Tara comes from a background in Psychology and Social Care and has over 15 years experience working within the field of mental health. She works within a Humanistic and Integrative framework, valuing the theraputic relationship as the most important factor in working towards change. She tailors her work according to the needs of the individual and draws from a range of Humanistic models in order to create the most beneficial approach possible.
Tara has experience working with a wide range of issues, including Depression, Anxiety and Stress, Post-Natal Mental Health, Fertility and Loss, Abuse, Trauma, Domestic Violence, Relationship Difficulties, Bereavement, Learning Disability and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
Tara uses CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) as part of her therapeutic approach. She also holds an Msc in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, which has been shown to be a very effective approach in managing depression and anxiety and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
She offers individual Counselling and Psychotherapy along with Mindfulness Training for individuals and companies.
“At times , we can feel like we have lost control, that we no longer have agency in our own lives. Old patterns of behaviour, which may no longer be beneficial to us, can become our default setting. This can create a sense of having someone else in the driving seat. I see therapy as means of creating choice and taking back control of our own minds and lives. I aim to provide a safe space to explore why those old patterns of behaviour were created and to work collaboratively with you to find alternative ways of being.”
