Bernie Mack is an experienced psychotherapist / trainer and presenter / life and career coach who maintains a busy practice in North and South Dublin. Prior to moving into private practice Bernie held the position of psychotherapist and clinical assessor with Pieta House and her experience there provided her with a competence in working with many varied, difficult and complex issues with clients from different cultures and diverse backgrounds dealing with issues resulting in self-harm and suicidal ideation; Bernie also delivers workshops on Self-harm and Suicidal Ideation – Prevention, Intervention, Postvention and Bereavement – The Different Types of Grief.
A lot of Bernie’s work is in the area of bereavement counselling as she works in a funeral home dealing with bereaved families and in practice with clients experiencing loss, grief and bereavement, divorce and separation, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, childhood trauma, bullying, stress, loneliness and many other challenges that life throws at us. Bernie takes a person-centred approach to therapy and to life in general, she likes to learn about people and from people in a non-judgemental but real and empathetic way – she uses an integrative approach to therapy adopting the style that best suits her client.
Having had four career changes to date, Bernie is passionate about people making changes in their own lives and living the life they truly want to live in the present moment; if you lack direction in life or are after a promotion or exploring a career change or are even going through one of life’s transitions Bernie understands that struggle well and revels in helping people transform their lives for the better.
Therapy / counselling is about personal exploration and greater self-awareness – it’s about taking responsibility for yourself and working through the changes in your life. Counselling gives us the tools we need to avoid that which triggers us and helps us to change old patterns that don’t serve us well in our present-day lives. When we are aware of what is going on for us we are better able to deal with it. It is important to remember when embarking on this journey that we can only change ourselves, we cannot change those around us.
