Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach:
Áine’s way of working is an integrative approach using Gestalt, Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Existentialist process. Gestalt is a German word, used in describing the whole as being more than the sum of the parts and the pattern within the whole. Gestalt psychotherapy is a practical and creative approach to psychotherapy, emphasizing that people cannot be understood in isolation, but only as part of the environments in which they live.
Each client is treated as an individual and no assumptions are made. The client brings what they want to each session. My way is to ‘do no harm’, going at the pace of the client. Each client has their own answers within, and the therapist is there to guide them.
Áine is passionate about her work and offers creative methods like art therapy if a client is interested.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest:
Áine works with individuals and couples who present with various issues, including Anxiety (also Existential Angst), Depression, Children of Alcoholics, Bereavement, Anger, Suicidal Ideation, Low Self Esteem, and young adults with life concerns, Couples Counselling, and relationship counselling.
