Family therapy is a collaborative approach to emotional and psychological problems that works with families and couples in intimate relationships to nuture healthy change and development.  It tends to view change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members and it emphasises family relations as an important factor in psychological well-being.  The skills of the family therapist includes the ability to guide conversations in a way that catalyses the strengths and support of the wider system.
