Adrian is a CBT therapist with 10 years experience in working with children, adolescents and adults with mental health difficulties. The combination of his background training in social work and his ongoing CBT training and practice makes his therapeutic style very adaptable to the needs of the client.  He is also a practice teacher and occasional lecturer for MSc social work in Trinity College Dublin.

"CBT is a journey of exploration and discovery. It focuses on the client’s presenting difficulties and the factors that contribute to their maintenance.  Exploring the client’s past experiences constitutes an important element of this exploration, but the main emphasis is in the here-and-now.

Aaron Beck, one of the founding fathers of CBT, states that emotional distress has its roots in distortions in people’s thinking, which then leads to maladaptive (unhelpful) patterns of behaviour.

My role as a CBT therapist is to explore, in collaboration with the client, how certain distorted thinking patterns have developed over time and how they are contributing to the client’s actual emotional and behavioural difficulties.

CBT is one of the most effective therapeutic approaches and is backed by years of research and scientific evidence. CBT has proven its effectiveness with a whole range of emotional difficulties such as: Anxiety Disorders (Panic Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, etc.), Depression, Tic Disorders (Tourette ’s syndrome), Body Impulse Control Disorders (Trichotillomania or “Hair Pulling”), Eating Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorders, Stress Management, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Anger Management and so forth".

Adrian has been a keen sports practitioner for many years (Martial Arts, Freediving, Yoga, Gymnastics) and brings an interesting dimension, inspired from these arts, into his therapeutic approach.
